Martin’s article about the importance of communicating clearly in legal, government and business writing was published by the American Judge’s Association. The “plain language standard” is one all communicators should strive for: the audience must be able to understand it the first time they read or hear it.

In 2006, Martin helped the Citizens League launch their Minnesota Anniversary Project (MAP 150), an effort to stake out a bold new policy direction for Minnesota’s 150th anniversary. Media hits included stories in the Star Tribune and Pioneer Press, editorial in the Star Tribune, editorial in the Pioneer Press, news story on Minnesota Public Radio, hour-long segment on MPR’s “Midday” program, guest interview segment on TPT’s “Almanac,” extended interviews on WCCO’s Don Shelby Show, KSTP-AM and local papers.

In 2004 and 2006, Martin helped the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School craft compelling messages as they sought and secured needed funding for expansion of their undergraduate programming.
